Hailing from Seattle, Sawka was initially drawn to electronic music by the sounds of Dieselboy, LTJ Bukem and Roni Size. His first breakthrough came with the cult all-improvisatory avant-garde drum ‘n’ bass trio Siamese who toured North America in 2002-2003 with shows ranging from support slots with LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad to a performance at the New Orleans Jazzfest. His recent career has included rapturously received solo shows, tours with BT and the development of the innovate iPhone app DrumBanger.

Pendulum edge even closer to super-group status with the news that world renowned electronic drummer Kevin Sawka – better known as KJ SAWKA – has joined the band. Sawka has already contributed to the recording of Pendulum’s eagerly anticipated third album “Immersion” and was introduced to international audiences when he joined the band’s tour that features a landmark show at London’s Wembley Arena & Madison Square Gardens.

Evan Chandler, aka Slynk from Brisbane, Australia performs and produces a mix of different styles and is most known for my funky-hiphop-bootleg-b-boy-breaks style productions. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, dBoom was introduced into music at an early age,
and more than 13 years ago, he began his venture into d.j.ing while living in Europe, playing at underground squat parties and raves before returning to Canada. His musical tastes range from broken beat Bass music, dubstep, glitch hop, funk and hip hop, to minimal techno and world beat and recently he’s shown off that taste at the successful weekly known as Archi-Textures, the Promise NYE party and various CirQlar and Suma events over the years.

Make It Funky founders Farbsie & Mickey D start out the night with a blend of funky beats that Make It Funky is known for. Farbsie has been spreading the funk gospel and grooving dancefloors across the country. Fusing funky breaks with mowtown sounds, hiphop, calypso, reggae, and classic rock while Mickey D will drop funky house and breaks always heating up the dancefloor.

DJ Farbsie, founder of the Make It Funky Collective got deep into funk at Mo’ Gravy in London, Ontario in 1996 prior to that his musical influences were formed in the jam band scene traveling to over 400 shows across North America. Having collected thousands of records over the years in 2000 He first stepped up to the decks and the formative years for the Make It Funky Collective began. In the years to follow Farbsie has been spreading the funk gospel and grooving dancefloors across the country. Fusing funky breaks with mowtown sounds, hiphop, calypso, reggae, and classic rock, Farbsie continues to push the boundries of where a dj can take you. Building a journey for the dancefloor that will have you smiling, shouting and singing along as you dance the night away.

If we were to construct a family tree of LA bands, Breakestra would be mentioned in the same breath as Weapon of Choice, Very Be Careful. Jurassic 5, Fishbone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction and Ozomatli. These bands began in backyard jam sessions and random open mics held throughout the city from Echo Park to Venice, Highland Park to Topanga Canyon. Those early days were just after the ’92 Riots. Musicians from all over the city became tighter and many experimental jam sessions occurred fusing genres like funk, hip-hop, rock and acoustic soul resulting in truly innovative, multiculturaL music. Musical friendships between cats like Miles, Mixmaster Wolf, Cut Chemist, Peaunut Butter Wolf, Carlos Guaico and many others became the seeds for landmark clubs and two indie record labels that still flourish to this day. Original members of the Breakestra have gone on to either play or write songs for/with the Black Eyed Peas, Macy Gray, The Rebirth, Dakah, the list goes on.

Dub Fx

Dub Fx (Benjamin Stanford) is a worldwide street performer and studio recording artist from St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia. After playing and singing in a band called Twitch & N.O.N with CAde since they were 15, he struck out solo when he moved to Europe. His trademark is creating rich live music using only his own performance aided by Live looping and effect pedals combined with his voice. Stanford travels and performs with his fiancée Flower Fairy (real name Shoshana Sadia) whom he met in Manchester UK. Flower Fairy can usually be seen selling CDs during Dub Fx’s performances and also performs alongside Stanford. She is featured singing in the songs on Everythinks A Ripple, Wandering Love, and Time Will Tell. Flower Fairy released a CD “Nursery Gryme” produced by Dub Fx aimed towards children. Dub has released 2 Live CDs, 1 is an ultra -are burnt CD of random recordings from street performances the second is “Live in the Street” the Cardboard slip which is still available on convoyunltd.com. Everythinks A Ripple is Dub’s studio album released in late 2009 which has the songs Love Someone & Flow, two songs made popular through Ben Dowden a Bristol film maker who captured the live performances and posted them on youtube. In 2010 Dub FX collaborated with Melbourne based producer Sirius and released the album titled: Dub FX and Sirius A Crossworlds. Dub Fx and Sirius came to collaborate as old friends who have a mutual love for producing Bass Orientated Music.. 2011 will see the release of a new solo album, Everythanks A Ripple (Remix Album), collaborations with producers & lots of secret surprise things.
