Freedom Danish of The Root Sellers
(Pop and Lock Records, Opulent Temple, Freakeasy, Toronto)

This is the kind of guy you would bring home to your family and wind up getting caught in confessional with, only to discover the location of a missing pirate treasure. Although Freedom has been DJing internationally since 1999 and performing with The Root Sellers since 2007, they’ve recently stormed the international scene with a shortlist for Best Remix in last year’s Breakspoll awards (Utah Saints remix of their monster hit with Myagi “Rock One”) releases on Muti Music, Swingset Sounds, Pop and Lock Records, Basement Freaks, Westway and False Profit. After accidentally selling his flatulation noises to the world’s biggest computer company for loads of cash, Freedom has become more focussed on sound design and production, sharing a studio with the mighty ill.Gates for all of 2011 was also an inspirational game changer.

He produces and tours with The Root Sellers, cultural ambassadors from the north who composed the 2012 Arctic Winter Games theme, played for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and Paralympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics among other massive cultural events. With nearly 100 live shows last year including coast to coast shows at Shambhala Music Festival, Evolve Festival, Burning Man, these Pastafarians jam out original bangers that ignite sound systems. Freedom Danish & The Root Sellers always pack a wallop.

Farbsie’s vision is a concert experience whose mission is to explore the funkier side of all things breakbeat and it’s a mission he brings directly to the dance massive. dBoom (cirQlar)

DJ Mythrophan
http://soundcloud.com/mythrophan

DJ Mythrophan has been involved in Toronto’s psychedelic trance scene since 2004. His interest in sharing his passion for music pushed Mythrophan to start to DJ in 2008, and his name has been growing ever since.   Mythrophan has already started to leave a lasting mark on Toronto’s psytrance scene, and he has earned a reputation for his impressive mixing talent and music selection. Mythrophan’s style of music can be best described as groovy progressive psychedelic trance, with minimal, techno, dub, goa and full-on elements. Afrika Bambaataa (NYC / ZULU NATION)
The Ah men Ra of Universal Hip Hop Culture
www.zulunation.com

Named by LIFE Magazine as one of the MOST IMPORTANT Americans of the 20th Century, Afrika Bambaataa is a Musical visionary, DJ extraordinaire, living legend and founder of the Zulu Nation. Bam, as he’s affectionately known, has done more for the culture and music of hip-hop, funk and electro than most could dream of. In fact, he’s even the person responsible for coining the term “Hip Hop” in reference to the movement.

The man behind Hip Hop/Electro Funk classic ‘Planet Rock’ over the years has co-produced and performed with the likes of James Brown, George Clinton, Fortknox Five, Leftfield, Uberzone and Tribe Called Quest among many others.

Bam’s futuristic soundscapes became a major influence in the development of not only hip-hop, but have been instrumental in laying the foundation for Breaks, Electro, Freestyle, Techno and House music as well. “Planet Rock” has become arguably the most sampled song in music history, having been remixed and sampled by the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Westbam, George Acosta, LL Cool J and countless others. Bam’s track “Renegades of Funk” was also famously covered by Rage Against The Machine.

Still extremely active, Bam continues to record, tour and educate, maintaining his status as a living legend and forefather of the art. In 2006, Bam was honored for his incredible achievements by VH1 at the annual ‘Hip Hip Honors’ show. In 2007, he was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In 2012 Bam accepted an appointment at Cornell University where he will speak to classes, meet with students, community groups and perform the music he helped create and expand.

Medeski Martin & Wood’s beat scientist Billy Martin was on the look out for new collaborations when he encountered Bay Area Hammond B3 wizard Wil Blades. They first played together in January 2011 at San Francisco’s groove emporium, The Boom Boom Room. They followed that auspicious bandstand introduction with an even more promising meeting at JazzFest in New Orleans, which led to a series of duo gigs culminating in a Berkeley recording session last December that would
