Krafty Kuts (Fingerlickin’, Instant Vibes) www.kraftykuts.com

Multi award winning DJ Krafty Kuts, started 2011 with an audible bang. Collecting THREE Breakspoll awards (including Outstanding Contribution) has only further cemented his legendary reputation in the global DJ scene. Now with his schedule firmly packed out until next year, things are only going to get crazier for one of dance music’s most in-demand and highly revered artists

Effortlessly maintaining hierarchy status in every genre across the breaks, electro, dubstep, drum & bass and hip hop spectrums, Krafty’s music represents mash-up in its truest form. His high octane sets never fail to boost his fanbase and his regular teaming with Dynamite MC and obsession with only the biggest new tracks and remixes keep his show fresh and exciting with every minute that passes.

His ability to rock even the most diverse crowd will see him hit every major global festival throughout 2011, and with a Canadian and Asian tour completed and more mapped out in Australia, New Zealand and North America it’s clear to see this is set to end as one of his biggest years yet. For anyone a little closer to home, keep your eyes peeled for upcoming ‘A Night With Krafty Kuts’ events and a university tour plus his second iPhone app which is currently under construction.

Those who know this highly skilled DJ will agree that his incredibly warm nature and passion for the scene sets him apart time after time. This, coupled with an unfaltering ability to deliver the finest, most eclectic and endlessly inspiring beats to his fans, will ensure Krafty continues to sweep the board and inspire a global scene for 2011 and beyond.

KJ Sawka (Consirator, Pendulum, Destoid) www.kjsawka.com

Seeing Kevin Sawka on the drums is the only way to believe the hype. He can play the most complex of jungle, drum’n'bass and breakbeats utilizing no loops and no extended samples -only his two hands and two feet. If you can catch him in the right moment –live, at a show, or in a studio session- you’ll witness him perform each and every 808 bass kick, snare slap, and compressed highhat tick himself, in real-time.

Live and in the dj scene, Sawka is pushing the envelope with his one-man balls-to-the-wall dancefloor show, which now does include a laptop, samplers, loops, and a rack of gear to produce a full-on production -plus projections, live-action cameras, and intelligent. For many live music venue gigs, Kevin also employs a full featuring ethereal female vocals, a keyboardist, and a cellist performing similar material in an in-your-face way that only the reverse-engineering, seemingly bionic Mr. Sawka can bring.

Mr. Brown (Soul In Motion / Heavyweght / Junglist Movement / Prophecy FM)

Mr. Brown has been in the game over 21 years and is a well-respected member of the Toronto Drum n Bass community. Originally playing ska, reggae, and house for the first 8 years then made the transition to dnb; but this early music preference is still transmitted through his sets today. In 2002 he started a production company known as Soul In Motion that throw events that promote the best local and international DnB producers and DJ’s around. Mr. Brown isn’t just local to Toronto, as he’s played all over Canada, the US as well the UK. Not to mention, he’s been played alongside talent such as: Netsky, Sigma, Brookes Brothers, Shy FX, Fabio, Andy C, and Break just to name a few. Currently, aside from working on a series of side promotional projects; Junglist Movement and Heavyweight Productions, he is a rotating host on Canada’s longest running DnB radio show “The Prophecy. Mr. Brown’s high energy behind the decks are pure crowd pleasers and he has no sign of stopping anytime soon.

If you were walking the streets of Korea and overheard someone saying, Man, I saw the sickest reggae show last night, you might first do a double take. Second, you might ask, “Reggae music exists in Korea?” Yes it does, and it’s growing in popularity. There are a handful of Korean reggae inspired bands that have been playing for several years now including Seoul’s Windy City. You’re probably saying to yourself, “It’s Korean reggae music. How good can it be?” That’s a fair question to ask. However you might be surprised because it’s quite good. Windy CIty, formed by front man Kim Ban Jang combines elements of African music in addition to reggae and salsa, creating a fusion of new sounds while simultaneously paying homage to classic roots music. Having played around the world, including festival gigs in Japan, Brazil, England and even Jamaica, Windy City is a serious band who’s international presence continues to expand. www.windycity.co.kr

Throughout their career House of David Gang has been known for their uplifting roots rock reggae sound reminiscent of Kingston, Jamaica’s music scene in the late 70′s mixed with a modern roots Canadian feel. The band takes its name from The House of David, an after-hours spot on Queen Street West that was a hot spot for artists from the city’s burgeoning Rastafarian and reggae community from the late 80s until the mid 90s. Now with the release of their album “Reggae Warrior” on NuFunk Records, the band continues to pave their own road as Canada’s hardest touring reggae band. Currently #10 on the Canadian Reggae Music Charts! www.houseofdavidgang.com

Visual Artist Tai Kim is a Canadian artist of Korean decent and is a member of The Propeller Center of Visual Art and currently teaching at the Koffler Center of Art. She’s been following the work of Windy City for sometime and helped connect the band to the Canadian Music Festival. Tai runs the Art department of the House of David Gang, designing and making t-shirts, mini comic and .created the artwork for the band’s new CD “Reggae Warrior.” She often sings back up with House of David and her own roots rock reggae band Roots Vibe. She is a part of a Canadian-Korean-Jamaican cultural movement in Canada and has provided her artwork for the poster of this show. More on Tai Kim here: http://taimiru.wordpress.com/

Freedom Danish of The Root Sellers
(Pop and Lock Records, Opulent Temple, Freakeasy, Toronto)

This is the kind of guy you would bring home to your family and wind up getting caught in confessional with, only to discover the location of a missing pirate treasure. Although Freedom has been DJing internationally since 1999 and performing with The Root Sellers since 2007, they’ve recently stormed the international scene with a shortlist for Best Remix in last year’s Breakspoll awards (Utah Saints remix of their monster hit with Myagi “Rock One”) releases on Muti Music, Swingset Sounds, Pop and Lock Records, Basement Freaks, Westway and False Profit. After accidentally selling his flatulation noises to the world’s biggest computer company for loads of cash, Freedom has become more focussed on sound design and production, sharing a studio with the mighty ill.Gates for all of 2011 was also an inspirational game changer.

He produces and tours with The Root Sellers, cultural ambassadors from the north who composed the 2012 Arctic Winter Games theme, played for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and Paralympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics among other massive cultural events. With nearly 100 live shows last year including coast to coast shows at Shambhala Music Festival, Evolve Festival, Burning Man, these Pastafarians jam out original bangers that ignite sound systems. Freedom Danish & The Root Sellers always pack a wallop.
